Line Style pop-up menu

To choose a line  style (dashed or solid) for the selected object or for a new object, click and hold down the mouse button here.

Line End pop-up menu

To choose a line end style for the selected object or a new object, click and hold down the mouse button here.

Line Widths pop-up menu

To choose a line width for the selected object or for a new object, click and hold down the mouse button here.

Pen pop-up menu

To choose a pen pattern for the selected object or for a new object, click and hold down the mouse button here.

Fill pop-up menu

To choose a fill pattern for the selected object or for a new object, click and hold down the mouse button here.

Displays the properties of a selected object.

Properties include information such as the object's type, size, position, line style, and color.

Changes a circle or square into a polygon with a specific number of equal-length sides.

Reduces or enlarges the selected object by a specific amount.

Rotates an object by an exact amount.

Flips a selected object left to right.

Flips a selected object up/down.

Restores the angles to a smoothed object.

Changes angles within an object to smooth curves.

Displays reshape handles on the selected polygon, polyline, or freehand curve.

Drag the handles to reshape the object.

Moves selected objects so they have an equal amount of space between them.

Aligns selected objects to the last object you selected or the frontmost object (in a selection border).

Moves the selected objects behind other objects.

Moves the selected objects in front of other objects.

Breaks the selected grouped objects into individual objects, so you can make changes to the individual objects.

If the group contained other groups, ungroup more than once to ungroup all objects.

You can move, resize, flip, or align grouped objects as a single object.

To choose a line style (dashed or solid) for the selected object or for a new object, click one here.

To change one of the line styles, click Set.

Current line style

Shows the line style (solid or dashed) for new or selected objects.

Line End Style area

To choose a line end style for the selected object or for a new object, click one here.

To change one of the line end values, click Set.

Shows the current line end style.

Line Width area

To choose a line width for the selected object or for a new object, click one here.

To change one of the line width values, click Set.

Shows the current line width setting.

Color pop-up menu

Shows the current drawing color.

To change an object's color, select it and choose a color from this pop-up menu.

Pen area

To choose a pen pattern for the selected object or a new object, click one here.

Current pen pattern

Shows the pen pattern for new or selected objects.

Fill area

To choose a fill pattern for the selected object or for a new object, click one here.

Current fill pattern

Shows the fill pattern for new or selected objects.

Frame tool

To draw an unanchored frame, click  this tool and then drag diagonally from one corner of the frame to another.

To draw a square frame, Shift-drag.

Text Line tool

To create an independent line of text, click  this tool, click to position the start of the text line, and then type. 

Text Column tool

To draw a text column, click this tool and then drag diagonally from one corner of the text column to the other.

Freehand tool

To draw a freeform curve, click this tool and then drag along the path of the curve.

Oval tool

To draw an oval, click this tool and then drag diagonally across the oval.

To draw a circle, Shift-drag.

Polygon tool

To draw a polygon, click this tool and then click each vertex. Double-click the last vertex.

Polyline tool

To draw several connected line segments, click this tool and then click each vertex. Double-click the last vertex.

Rounded Rectangle tool

To draw a rectangle with rounded corners, click this tool and then drag diagonally from one corner of the rectangle to  the other.

To draw a square with rounded corners, Shift-drag.

Rectangle tool

To draw a rectangle, click this tool and then drag diagonally from one corner of the rectangle to the other.

To draw a square, Shift-drag.

Arc tool

To draw an arc, click this tool and then drag along the path of the arc.

To draw a circular arc, Shift-drag.

Line tool

To draw a line, click this tool and then click the start and end points of the line.

To force the line to be horizontal, vertical, or 45°, Shift-click the points.

Object Selection tool

Click this tool to select lines and text columns as objects.  Double-click to keep this tool active after drawing an object. 

Smart Selection tool

Click this tool to place an insertion point when you click in a text line or text column, while still being able to select other objects as graphics.

To make objects align to the grid as you draw, move, or resize them, check (click) this box.

To connect objects more easily, check (click) this box. Then, as you draw, resize, or reshape an object, other objects attract the pointer.
